Pfluger Associates had the task of replacing an existing school from the early 1950’s and giving the San Marcos CISD a new sense of pride in the neighborhood.
A central courtyard amphitheatre is utilized for teaching in a natural setting while being completely enclosed for security. Materials were utilized in creative ways that decrease maintenance while still brightening the atmosphere of the school. Security was a main focus and the interior courtyard is completely enclosed allowing students and faculty to enjoy it during the day. Classrooms were built to adapt and grow as the district continues to grow. All learning spaces are equipped with video and data technology including 5 computers per classroom.
