Boerne I.S.D.
Boerne, Texas
The existing Boerne High School was an outdated school with multiple buildings scattered throughout the campus. The arbitrarily placed buildings were not able to meet the needs of the students. After a successful 2004 bond election, Boerne ISD challenged Pfluger Associates to consolidate and bridge multiple buildings into one cohesive campus.
Existing facilities were merged with additions and the entire campus was aesthetically connected together with the use of local, natural materials. Two classroom buildings were renovated and expanded with new state-of-the-art science classroom/laboratories. The existing gymnasium was upgraded while support areas were renovated, with new locker rooms and coaches’ offices.
New facilities include a new media center, including audio/visual areas, computer labs and an outdoor porch for reading. The new 581-seat auditorium features upgraded lighting and audio systems. A cafeteria adjacent to the two classroom wings has 4 serving lines and options for indoor or outdoor dining, in the enclosed courtyard. All other portions of the campus received necessary upgrades.
The new facilities bring energy to a school rich in tradition and provides the students a 21st century learning environment that will grow with the district’s future needs.
