Walter Webb Hall is an older campus building that once housed the UT Austin Campus Club. Once vacated by the club, the space presented opportunities to house various groups and departments currently lacking space on campus: The Graduate and International Admissions Center, The Office of Public Affairs, The Development Call Center, and The Freshman Admissions Visitor’s Center. Becoming a more visibly public building on campus, a glass and steel storefront main entry was created to open up the central lobby space. This storefront transforms the lobby into an open two story space that invites visitors, while providing a substantial increase in natural light for everyday users. At the Visitor’s Center, existing walls were removed to create an open floor plan that allows prospective students and their families to gather for tours and learn about the University with a direct view of the UT Tower. Glass enclosed offices and large windows in the central corridors provide natural light for all the users of the building. Terrazzo floors, glass mosaic tile, and dark stained custom millwork add a contemporary feel throughout the building.
